Part 2: Relationship Needs

Moon in Pisces in the 10th House
Moon Rules 2nd, Almuten 12th House

In order to feel Safe (Moon), he needs to feel gentle, healing, superficial, and receptive (Pisces) WITH his money and resources (Moon Rules 2nd), and his unconscious and shadow-self (Moon Almuten 12th House). He encounters these needs particularly IN his career and life path (Moon in 10th House). [Blueprint Sentence].

Individuals with the Moon in Pisces always have to learn what true Safety is. The Moon in Pisces creates very poor emotional and energetic boundaries, and because of the inherent compassion and healing nature of Pisces energy, it invites other people to descend on the Moon in Pisces individual, like moths to a flame. Other people dump their pain and negativity on people with the Moon in Pisces, hoping to be healed. What is familiar to individuals with the Moon in Pisces is operating in a sea of other people’s energy and negativity, and always being aware of other people feelings. It’s familiar, but it’s not truly Safe.

What Stiller actually needs in order to feel Safe are good, solid, appropriate boundaries, and the knowledge that he has the power to choose the level of emotional and energetic interaction he has with other people. What he thinks he needs (because it’s familiar) is a constant connection to the feelings and emotions of the people around him. Compassion for others is an admirable quality, but it doesn’t mean what he thinks it means. Stiller must learn how to live within the very narrow limits of “My Business,” and not be so involved in how other people feel.

For Stiller, these issues play out particularly with his money and his career. Because his Moon in Pisces rules his 2nd house, he’s unlikely to be too attached to money and possessions — which is a good thing, because he’s also unlikely to be able to manage them very well. His feelings and intuition will always drive any financial choices, and those choices will have direct effects on his 10th house career and public life. That Stiller has had such a successful career suggests that he’s operating from relatively high levels of consciousness in these areas. By listening to his inner guidance and trusting his feelings, he makes choices that support him financially (2nd house) and professionally (10th house). Were he operating from First Kingdom/Victim Consciousness in these affairs, both his career and his finances would be in ruins.

Board of Directors for the Moon

05 BenStiller Moon

Jupiter in Gemini in the 1st House (5 Votes)
Jupiter Rules 7th and 10th Houses

In order to feel Safe (Moon’s Board of Directors), he needs to grow, expand, and experience faith (Jupiter) in a manner that is intellectual, versatile, contradictory, and curious (Gemini), WITH his marriage, partnerships, and one-to-one relationships (Rules 7th house), and his career and life path (Ruler 10th House). He encounters these needs particularly IN his personality and self-image (Jupiter in 1st House). [Blueprint Sentence]

With Jupiter in Gemini having 5 votes on the Moon’s Board of Directors, and ruling the 10th house, we can begin to suggest that Stiller’s career and life path (10th house) is an important part of his ability to feel Safe (Moon). In this context, Jupiter needs to experience faith in order to feel Safe, and with Jupiter in Gemini, Stiller needs to have faith in his ideas, his words, and his ability to communicate and form connections and relationships to the world. Expansive communication (Jupiter in Gemini) is especially important in his relationships and partnerships (Jupiter rules 7th) and his career and public life (Jupiter rules 10th), and any limits or restrictions on these communications will have a negative impact on Stiller’s ability to feel Safe (Moon). Because Jupiter is in the 1st house, Stiller may also have an attachment (Moon/Safety need) to appearing (1st house) to be fun, clever, and easy-going (Jupiter in Gemini). If other people don’t perceive these qualities in him, it may also cause Stiller to feel unsafe.

Venus in Capricorn in the 8th House (6 Votes: Exaltation and Term)
Venus Rules 5th, 12th, Almuten 10th House

In order to feel Safe (Moon’s Board of Directors), he needs to express love and appreciation and align with his Core Values (Venus) in a manner that is conservative, practical, materialistic, and industrious (Capricorn), WITH his personal creativity and love affairs (Rules 5th), his unconscious and shadow self (Rules 12th), and his career and life path (Almuten 10th). He encounters these needs particularly IN his dealings with shared resources and other people’s values and opinions (Venus in 8th House). [Blueprint Sentence]

Venus in Capricorn has the most influence on Stiller’s Moon’s Board of Directors, and provides some very critical information. The Moon in Pisces rules Stiller’s 2nd house of money and resources, and based on this, we’ve suggested that Stiller is unlikely to be very attached to material things. Venus in Capricorn, however, suggests that while Stiller may not be motivated by money, that he does care about managing it responsibly. Venus is the almuten of Stiller’s 10th house, and now there’s no question about how important his career and public life is to his ability to feel Safe.

Venus in Capricorn brings up some other interesting patterns, however. Venus rules Stiller’s 12th house, so it’s the vehicle for his self-sabotage, and the Moon is the almuten of his 12th house, so there’s a repeated 12th house theme that needs to be explored with regards to his ability to feel Safe. Stiller will need to be careful about how much he cares about other people’s values and opinions (Venus in 8th house), especially other people’s opinions about his creativity (Venus rules 5th) and his career (Venus almuten 10th). The poor boundaries of the Moon in Pisces play into this, making Stiller even more aware of how other people feel. Giving away his power to other people and making choices based on what he thinks will make other people happy will inevitably bring him sorrow (12th house).

Mars in Capricorn in the 7th House (3 Votes, Triplicity)
Mars Rules 6th and 11th Houses, Almuten 8th House

In order to feel Safe (Moon’s Board of Directors), he needs to take action and expend energy (Mars) in a manner that is exacting, businesslike, relentless, and structured (Capricorn) WITH his job (Mars rules 6th), his hopes, dreams and ambitions (Mars rules 11th), and his dealings with other people’s resources and values (Mars almuten 8th). He encounters these needs particularly IN his one-to-one relationships (Mars in 7th House). [Blueprint Sentence]

Mars has only 3 votes on the Moon’s Board of Directors; however, Mars suggests a need to take practical action in order to feel Safe. This supports the theme of Venus in Capricorn, and adds an unexpected layer of structure to the usually free-flowing Moon in Pisces. Mars repeats the themes of the 8th house, and introduces Stiller’s 6th house job.

Saturn in Pisces in the 10th House (1 Vote, Face)
Saturn Rules 8th and 9th Houses, Almuten 5th House

In order to feel Safe (Moon’s Board of Directors), he needs to establish boundaries, limits, and structures, and accept responsibility (Saturn) in a manner that is compassionate, creative, dreamy, and sensitive (Pisces) WITH other people’s resources and values (Rules 8th), his beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Rules 9th), and his personal creativity and love affairs (Almuten 5th). He encounters these needs particularly IN his career and life path (Saturn in 10th House). [Blueprint Sentence]

With only one vote on the Moon’s Board of Directors, it would be easy to overlook Saturn in Pisces; however, both Venus in Capricorn (6 votes) and Mars in Capricorn (3 votes) are ruled by Saturn in Pisces, which gives Saturn significant influence. Saturn is not entirely independent, however, as Saturn in Pisces reports directly to Jupiter in Gemini.

While Venus and Mars in Capricorn both seem to care about structure and responsibility, Saturn in Pisces is less concerned with the Laws of the physical and material world, and more interested in the Laws of the spiritual realms. Saturn in Pisces’ influence on Stiller’s Moon in Pisces Board of Directors reinforces the idea that Stiller needs strong, appropriate boundaries in order to feel Safe. However, those boundaries need to be emotional and spiritual (Pisces) rather than tangible, and they’re not necessarily easy to discern.

Summary Ben Stiller Safety Needs

Once again, Stiller’s career and public image (10th house) shows up as a prominent area of focus, this time in the context of his Safety Needs. Jupiter in Gemini has emerged as a very powerful theme in Stiller’s Chart, with prominence not only in his personality, but now, also, in his Safety Needs.

What we see from exploring Stiller’s Moon is that he needs to find a truly appropriate balance of emotional connections with others, and connection to his own feelings and intuition.

It’s also worth noting that as Venus has so much influence on his Moon’s Board of Directors that meeting his Validation Needs is likely to be a very big part of what Stiller needs to feel Safe. An attachment to being Validated can create serious challenges in relationships.

Venus in Capricorn in the 8th House
Venus Rules 5th, 12th Houses, Almuten 10th House

In order to feel validated (Venus), he needs to be efficient, restrained, materialistic, and dependable (Capricorn) WITH his personal creativity and love affairs (Rules 5th), his personal unconscious and shadow-self (Rules 12th), and his career and life path (Almuten 10th). He encounters these needs particularly IN his experiences with shared resources and other people’s values and opinions (Venus in 8th House). [Blueprint Sentence]

With Venus in Capricorn, Stiller has an Earth Validation Checklist. He looks to have his Validation Needs met on the physical and material plane, which means that he prefers tangible expressions of affection, value, and esteem. Words don’t endure, and are rarely, if ever, enough for Stiller to feel loved or appreciated. One possible challenge for individuals with Venus in Capricorn is that they can easily equate love and money. It’s not the thought that goes into a gift that matters to Stiller; it’s the price tag.

Because Venus in Capricorn rules Stiller’s 12th house, Venus is the vehicle for Stiller’s self-sabotage and sorrows; and as he encounters these in the 8th house of shared resources and other people’s values and opinions, it’s easy to imagine that becoming too materialistic might have unfortunate consequences for Stiller. He creates hidden enemies (Venus rules 12th) through his actions in his financial partnerships (Venus in 8th house).

Venus in Capricorn also rules Stiller’s 5th house of personal creativity, suggesting that he is motivated to create tangible (Capricorn/Earth) expressions of his creative ideas, with the intention that they last and endure (Earth). It’s through his creativity that he looks for approval and validation (Venus) for tangible expressions of his individual identity (Capricorn/Cardinal Earth). Because Venus is also the almuten of his 10th house of career and life path, it suggests that Stiller may want to express his creativity in a very public (10th house) manner. And once again, the Venus in Capricorn associations with money as a form of appreciation suggest a drive towards professional creativity. He may only feel that his creative expressions have value and worth if he gets paid for them.

Board of Directors for Venus

06 BenStiller Venus

Saturn in Pisces in the 10th House (5 Votes, Rulership)
Saturn rules 8th, 9th Houses, Almuten 5th House

He wants to be validated (Venus’ Board of Directors) FOR his ability to establish boundaries, limits, and structures, and accept responsibility (Saturn) in a manner that is compassionate, creative, dreamy, and sensitive (Pisces) WITH other people’s resources and values (Rules 8th), his beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Rules 9th), and his personal creativity and love affairs (Almuten 5th). He encounters these needs particularly IN his career and life path (Saturn in 10th House). [Blueprint Sentence]

Saturn’s presence on Venus’ Board of Directors reinforces the importance of both the 5th house creativity and the 10th house career with regards to Stiller’s Validation Needs. It also reinforces the 8th house themes of shared resources and other people’s values and opinions. Stiller wants to be recognized and appreciated for being responsible (Saturn), but also for how he is able to provide structure and form (Saturn) to his dreams and inspirations (Pisces). Stiller especially wants to be recognized (Venus’ Board of Directors) as a responsible authority (Saturn) in his dealings with shared resources and other people’s money (Saturn rules 8th) and his beliefs, philosophies, and higher education (Saturn rules 9th).

We’ve already noted how the 8th house is where Stiller is apt to encounter the challenges and self-sabotage carried from Venus’ rulership of the 12th house. Saturn ruling the 8th suggests that a component of these issues might be Stiller’s need to be the Law (Saturn) and establish and maintain what he believes to be responsible limits and boundaries in his financial partnerships. This behavior may contribute to his partners’ resentment, creating hidden enemies.

Mars in Capricorn in the 7th House (6 Votes, Exaltation and Term)
Mars Rules 6th, 11th, Almuten 8th House

He wants to be validated (Venus’ Board of Directors) FOR his ability to take action and expend energy (Mars) in a manner that is exacting, businesslike, relentless, and structured (Capricorn) WITH his job (Mars rules 6th), his hopes, dreams and ambitions (Mars rules 11th), and his dealings with other people’s resources and values (Mars almuten 8th). He encounters these needs particularly IN his one-to-one relationships (Mars in 7th House). [Blueprint Sentence]

Mars in Capricorn has the most influence over Venus’ Board of Directors, with a total of 6 votes for Exaltation and Term. We’ve noted that Stiller’s Venus in Capricorn cares about tangible expressions of creativity, but it’s Mars in Capricorn that drives Stiller to take action and make something of those values. Because Stiller’s Mars rules his 6th house of his job and daily routine, Stiller expects to expend consistent effort on a daily basis to accomplish his goals, and in this context, he also wants to be recognized for this effort. Mars also rules Stiller’s 11th house of hopes, dreams, and aspirations, suggesting that Stiller has a very practical, focused ambition, and, of course, that he’s willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish his dreams.

What’s interesting is that Stiller is aware, on some levels, at least, that he can’t accomplish his goals on his own. He needs other people to partner with (Mars in the 7th house) and also to support him financially (Mars almuten of 8th house). And, of course, we have yet another emphasis on the 8th house in the context of Stiller’s Validation Needs.

Moon in Pisces in the 10th House (3 Votes, Triplicity)
Moon Rules 2nd, Almuten 12th House

He wants to be validated (Venus’ Board of Directors) FOR his ability to express emotions and feelings (Moon) in a manner that is flexible, secretive, romantic, and loving (Pisces), WITH his money and resources (Moon rules 2nd) and his personal unconscious and shadow self (Moon almuten 12th). He encounters these needs particularly IN his career and life path (Moon in 10th House). [Blueprint Sentence]

The Moon repeats both the theme of money and validation, because the Moon rules the 2nd house, and also the connection to the sorrows and self-sabotage of the 12th house. And, of course, the Moon also brings the 10th house into focus again, suggesting that Stiller needs public and professional recognition to meet his Validation Needs. The Moon’s presence on Venus’ Board of Directors also suggests a close connection between his Safety and Validation Needs (which we’ll explore below).

Uranus in the 4th house Trine Venus in the 8th House (Rules 5th, 12th, Almuten 10th) [5s23]

There is a constant, flowing connection (Trine) CAUSED BY unexpected disruptions, rejection and abandonment (Uranus) COMING FROM his home, family, and his relationship with his father (Uranus in 4th house) and affecting his experiences with shared resources and other people’s values and opinions (Venus in 8th House). This could cause him to feel invalidated, particularly WITH his love affairs and personal creativity (Venus rules 5th), his unconscious and shadow self (Venus rules 12th), and his career and life path (Venus almuten 10th). [Blueprint Sentence]

Uranus trine Venus is not inherently challenging, and because the aspect is both wide and separating, it’s unlikely to represent a major theme or pattern. In this context, it probably has more to do with giving Stiller a rather unconventional set of Core Values, and standards for what it takes to feel loved and appreciated. Both Stiller’s parents are professional comic actors, and it’s reasonable to assume that Stiller’s upbringing, home and family life was at least somewhat unconventional.

Summary of Relationship Needs: Connection between Moon and Venus

Stiller’s Moon in Pisces and Venus in Capricorn do not make any aspect to each other; however, they are sextile by sign, which suggests a reasonable level of commonality between what he needs to feel Safe and what he needs to feel Validated. There’s no inherent conflict between the two checklists, which is a good thing, because Stiller’s Safety and Validation Needs are very deeply intertwined.

Venus has the most influence over Stiller’s Moon’s Board of Directors, so on one level, meeting his Validation Needs is almost a requirement for Stiller to feel Safe. The Moon has three votes on Venus’ Board of Directors, strengthening this connection even more.

For Stiller, then, everything depends on whether or not he is able to meet his Validation Needs. If he manages to meet his Validation Needs on his own, then he will also feel Safe, because a deposit in his Validation Need account is also a deposit in his Safety Need account. However, if Stiller does not meet his own Validation Needs, he will experience significant challenges in all areas of his life, because a lack of Validation is also a lack of Safety, and the attachment to feeling Validated makes it exceptionally difficult to meet either need.

The challenge for Stiller in terms of Validation is the lure of using money as the primary measure of love and esteem. This shows up several times, with Venus in Capricorn, and with the Moon ruling his 2nd house, but also with the repeated emphasis on the 8th house in terms of his Validation Needs. Even without the money issue, Stiller must learn not to rely on other people’s values and opinions (8th house) to meet his Validation Needs. As long as he looks for validation from other people, in any form, he will have difficulty feeling either Validated or Safe.
