Part 2: Relationship Needs

Moon in Leo in the 9th House
Moon Rules 9th House

In order to feel Safe (Moon), she needs to feel grand, loving, loyal, and imposing (Leo) WITH her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Moon rules 9th House). She encounters these needs particularly IN her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Moon in 9th house). [Blueprint Sentence].

Thatcher’s Moon is in Leo, which suggests that she will feel the most Safe when she is in the spotlight and the center of attention. The Moon in Leo has a Fire Safety Checklist, so she needs to be active and take action to feel Safe. Feeling overlooked or taken for granted will be very threatening to Thatcher, and it may cause her to act out in order to be noticed, if not appreciated.

What’s interesting about Thatcher’s Moon in Leo is that it is so focused and contained within her 9th house ideals, beliefs, higher mind, and philosophies. Because the Moon both rules and occupies the 9th house, all of her Safety Needs are centered on this aspect of her life. It does put her approach to foreign policy (9th house) in an interesting perspective, though. The Moon in Leo in charge of the 9th house expects to be the ruler no matter where it goes. There is an almost willful ignorance of the value or perspective of other cultures, and the unconscious need to make all 9th house experiences conform to her personal and familiar beliefs and ideals. The 9th house emphasis with her Moon also suggests that Thatcher may be extremely attached to her particular beliefs, ideals, and philosophies.

Board of Directors for the Moon

Sun in Libra in the 11th House [8 Votes]
Sun almuten 6th House

In order to feel Safe (Moon’s Board of Directors), she needs to express her authentic “Big S” Self” (Sun) in a manner that is peaceful, sociable, indifferent, and alert (Libra) WITH her job and workplace relationships (Sun almuten 6th house) She encounters these needs particularly IN her personal aspirations, hopes, and friendships (Sun in 11th house). [Blueprint Sentence]

Thatcher’s Sun in Libra has the most influence over her Moon in Leo, with a total of 8 votes on the Moon’s Board of Directors. Being able to express and embody her authentic “Big S” Self is crucial to her ability to feel Safe. But more importantly, the fact that the Sun (“Self”) is in a Cardinal sign (Identity) means that Thatcher will look within herself to feel Safe, and not expect other people to meet these needs for her, at least not on their own. It’s true that the Sun in Libra defines itself through relationship with other individuals, and that the Moon in Leo often looks for the attention and approval of others for Safety. However, Thatcher will tend to be proactive, and will ask (or demand) attention and acknowledgment from others before they have a chance to offer it — particularly in her workplace relationships (6th house).

Mars in Libra in the 11th House [3 Votes]
Mars Rules 1st, 6th Houses

In order to feel Safe (Moon’s Board of Directors), she needs to take action and expend energy (Mars) in a manner that is fussy, hesitant, objective, and collaborative (Libra) WITH her personality (Mars rules 1st house) and her job and workplace relationships (Mars rules 6th house). She encounters these needs particularly IN her personal aspirations, hopes, and friendships (Mars in 11th house). [Blueprint Sentence]

Mars in Libra’s votes on the Moon’s Board of Directors simply reinforce everything that the Sun in Libra brings to the table, although Mars brings Thatcher’s “little s” self and ego into the mix along with her authentic “Big S” Self. Both Mars and the Sun are in Libra, so they have similar motivations, and they occupy and rule the same houses.

Neptune in the 9th House Conjunct Moon in the 9th House (Rules 9th House)

There is a unity of purpose (Conjunction) that dissolves boundaries and creates issues with glamour and illusion (Neptune) COMING FROM her beliefs, philosophies and higher mind (Neptune in 9th house) and affecting her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Moon in 9th house). This could cause her to feel unsafe (Moon), particularly with her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Moon rules 9th house). [Blueprint Sentence]

The conjunction between the Moon and Neptune immediately suggests that Thatcher has difficulties maintaining (or appreciating) appropriate emotional and energetic boundaries. Because of the 9th house influence, this may also affect her ideals and beliefs — and her attachments to those philosophies. Thatcher may be so aware of the highest potential of her ideals that she is unable to accept the practical realities of those ideals. The positive side of this is the ability to inspire others to raise their vibrations to match the higher truth.

Pluto in the 9th House Semi-Square Moon in the 9th House (Rules 9th House)

There is a minor internal tension or friction (Semi-Square) caused by issues with power, control and manipulation (Pluto) COMING FROM her beliefs, philosophies and higher mind (Pluto in 9th house) and affecting her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Moon in 9th house). This could cause her to feel unsafe (Moon), particularly with her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Moon rules 9th house). [Blueprint Sentence]

The connection between Pluto and the Moon, combined with the heightened sensitivity of the Moon conjunct Neptune, suggests that Thatcher is particularly invested in her beliefs, and is likely to view any difference of opinion as a direct attack. Because the semi-square is more of a mental aspect than a physical one, it’s likely that this energy helped drive Thatcher to develop her Libra-based diplomatic skills of persuasion.

Chiron in the 6th House Trine Moon in the 9th House (Rules 9th House)

There is an easy, constant, effortless flow of energy (Trine) caused by her core wound (Chiron) COMING FROM her job and workplace environment (Chiron in 6th house) and affecting her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Moon in 9th house). This could cause her to feel unsafe (Moon), particularly with her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Moon rules 9th house). [Blueprint Sentence]

The trine from Chiron in the 6th house to Thatcher’s Moon in the 9th house also increases Thatcher’s sensitivity and vulnerability around her 9th house beliefs and ideals. It’s important to note, however, that this isn’t a personal aspect per se. The real aspect is Chiron trine Neptune, which is a generational influence. Thatcher’s Moon taps directly into this energy, and it plays out in the relationship between the 6th house working classes and the 9th house lawmakers.

Summary Margaret Thatcher Safety Needs

Thatcher’s ability to feel Safe depends largely on her ability to have absolute faith in her 9th house beliefs and philosophies. She identifies on a deep personal level with these beliefs (because of the Sun and Mars), and with so many outer planet aspects besieging her Moon, she is likely to dig in her heels and defend these beliefs (Moon in Leo/Fixed), strengthening her attachment to them. While Saturn in Scorpio doesn’t have any direct influence over her Moon in Leo, it does have indirect influence over it, because Saturn in Scorpio has the most influence over both the Sun and Mars, the members of the Moon’s Board of Directors.

Venus in Sagittarius in the 1st House
Venus Rules 7th, 12th, Almuten 4th House

In order to feel validated (Venus), she needs to be forthcoming, moralizing, self-assured, and candid (Sagittarius) WITH her marriage and partnerships (rules 7th house), her personal unconscious and shadow-self (rules 12th house), and her home and family (almuten 4th house). She encounters these needs particularly IN her personality and self-image (Venus in 1st house). [Blueprint Sentence]

Thatcher’s Venus in Sagittarius is also in a Fire Sign, so, as with the Moon, Thatcher needs to take action and be able to express herself to meet her Validation Needs. Because Venus rules the 7th house and is in the 1st house, Thatcher’s Validation Needs are a very big part of her interpersonal relationships, and this could indicate that she needs other people (7th house) to validate (Venus) her personal (1st house) beliefs (Sagittarius). As Venus also rules her 12th house, this need for validation on a personal level may be a source of sorrow and self-sabotage (12th house), and as the 12th house also relates to hidden enemies, could result in attacks not on Thatcher’s ideas and beliefs, but on her 1st house personality.

Venus is also the almuten of Thatcher’s 4th house, which suggests that she also needed her country to provide personal validation of her expression of the truth. This approval may well have been a motivating factor in her political career.

Board of Directors for Venus

Jupiter in Capricorn in the 3rd House [7 Votes]
Jupiter Rules 2nd, 4th, 5th, Almuten 9th

She wants to be validated (Venus’ Board of Directors) FOR her ability to grow, expand, and experience faith (Jupiter) in a manner that is ambitious, organized, responsible, and unyielding (Capricorn) WITH her money and resources (Jupiter rules 2nd), home and family (Jupiter rules 4th), her personal creativity, love affairs, and willingness to take risks (Jupiter rules 5th), and her beliefs, philosophies, and higher mind (Jupiter almuten 9th). She encounters these needs particularly IN her writing, communication, and familiar environment (Jupiter in 3rd House). [Blueprint Sentence]

Jupiter in Capricorn is the very embodiment of the fundamentally conservative values that Thatcher embodied throughout her career. What Jupiter in Capricorn has faith in is the establishment, tradition, and the laws of cause and effect that seem to govern success and expansion in the physical and material world. Because Thatcher encounters Jupiter in Capricorn in her 3rd house, she may have adopted these values in her early education. What’s important, however, is that she specifically applies these values to her money and resources (2nd house), her home, and by extension, her country (4th house), her personal creative expression and approach to gambling and risk (5th house), and her higher education, beliefs, philosophies, and (by extension) foreign policy (almuten 9th house).

Sun in Libra in the 11th House [3 Votes]
Sun Almuten 6th House

She wants to be validated (Venus’ Board of Directors) FOR her ability to express her authentic “Big S” Self (Sun) in a manner that is pacifying, insinuating, fair, and elegant (Libra) WITH her job and workplace relationships (Sun almuten 6th house) She encounters these needs particularly IN her personal aspirations, hopes, and friendships (Sun in 11th house). [Blueprint Sentence]

Although the Sun only has 3 votes on Venus’ Board of Directors, it’s significant because the Sun rules Thatcher’s Moon, and this further emphasizes how important it is for Thatcher to be able to stay true to her authentic “Big S” Self in her relationships. Venus, of course, rules her Sun in Libra, and there’s a further connection because of the aspect between the Sun and Venus, which we’ll explore again below, this time in the context of her Validation Needs.

Sun in 11th House (Almuten 6th House) Semi-Square Venus in 1st House (Rules 7th, 12th, Almuten 4th)
[Sun has 3 Votes on Venus’ Board of Directors]

There is a minor internal tension or friction (Semi-Square) BETWEEN her need to express her authentic, “Big S” Self (Sun), specifically involving her job and workplace (Sun almuten 6th house), COMING FROM her personal aspirations and dreams (Sun in 11th house). AND her Core Values and need to be Validated (Venus), specifically involving her marriage and partnerships (Venus rules 7th), her unconscious and patterns of self-sabotage (Venus rules 12th), and her home and family (Venus almuten 4th), COMING FROM her personality (Venus in 1st house). [Blueprint Sentence]

When viewed from the context of her Validation Needs, the semi-square between the Sun and Venus emphasizes how important it is for Thatcher’s authentic “Big S” Self to be a central part of her Validation. It’s not enough for Thatcher to be Validated for her understanding of Truth (Sagittarius); it must be clear that she’s being Validated because the understanding of the Truth is, specifically, hers (Sun). This echoes and supports the observation that with Mercury combust the Sun, and therefore hidden by the light of the Sun, that Thatcher’s role as the messenger can often become more important than the message itself.

Summary of Relationship Needs: Connection between Moon and Venus

Thatcher’s Moon and Venus are both in Fire signs, so she speaks the same language for Safety and for Validation. There is no aspect between the Moon in Venus, although they are applying to a square, it won’t perfect until after the Moon changes signs and moves into Virgo.

What’s most striking about Thatcher’s relationship needs is how much they require her to own and express her individual identity. The Moon and Venus are the only two planets Thatcher has in Fire, and the Sun is heavily involved with both planets. This provides an excellent balance for the Sun, Mars and Mercury in Libra energy that is so strong in Thatcher’s chart. As important as it is for Thatcher to be able to explore her identity in relationship to other individuals, she also has a very strong sense of her self (and her Self), which is a great help in avoiding some of the traps and pitfalls of Libra energy. When Thatcher is in relationship, she still expects balance, but she also expects her partner to facilitate that balance by being as fully present in the relationship as she is.
